As enterprises adopt server virtualization as a strategic data center initiative, they often wonder whether their infrastructure is now more at risk from malware and malicious activity than before. Security technologies and processes imported from the physical world are generally not designed to automatically handle the dynamic nature of the virtual environment. Hypervisor introspection APIs such as VMware's VMsafe are creating new opportunities for security in virtual environments and a new breed of virtualization security solutions are now emerging.
